Helping Katie Kick Cancer's Ass!!

Katie Thomason, wife of Anthony Thomason and mother to Abbie and Noah (ages 15 and 11), our family member and friend, received some bad news from her doctor a couple of months ago. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroendocrine small cell Carcinoma presenting in the liver with unknown primary sources. The cancer has metastasized into her lymph nodes on her liver, and into her bones in her shoulder, pelvis, and spine. She is baffling doctors. Despite her condition, her liver is still functioning fairly well. Katie turned 35 last month. She is a strong, vibrant, proudly Irish woman and we know she is going to fight with all of her heart.

I know we all wish we could physically be there to support Katie and her family. But, as they live in New York, we are left feeling we can only offer encouragement and love in the forms of Facebook comments and texts.

There is another way we can help.

We can all pull together and give what we can to help financially support Katie, Anthony, and their kids through this difficult time. Katie is fighting this tough battle with beauty and grace. She is no longer able to work. Anthony had to take a leave of absence from his second job to spend more time at home with Katie and their children and this has caused a growing financial burden on the family. At a time when she should be focusing on her health and her children I am sure financial concerns are constantly on her mind.

If everyone in our family and within our circle of friends was able to give $5, $10, or $20 we would be able to make a real difference. If we can even slightly relieve some of their financial burden I know it can make this difficult time as a family a little more bearable and will show our love for her through our own small sacrifices.
