Fund Raiser For Tanzanian Education

In the summer of 2012, I was one of the lucky travellers who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and enjoyed the beauty of the landscape. While in Tanzania, my journey evolved from tourist to volunteer. This transformation occurred as I witnessed the poverty, lack of medical care, poor nutrition and low life expectancy. I vowed to do the best I can to help the children in this country, even if I only change one child's life. Some children are living in dumpsters; abandoned. There are approximately 40% of orphans that don't have placement in orphanages. The last thing these children can afford is school uniforms, shoes, or school text books. The minimum cost of enrolling a child in school is $250/year; not a possible task for most of the families in cases where there is only one parent raising many children. If the parent is a woman, she is most likely uemployed.

Through my fundraising efforts in Canada, I have raised $4,200.00 USD. In 2013, I returned to Tanzania and I personally delivered 800 school text books and school supplies to 10 local schools in the district of Same, Tanzania.

I'm returning to Tanzania in the spring of 2015. My fundraising goal is $10,000. All the money that I fundraise will go directly to benefit the children of Tanzania and no part of this money will go to administrative costs.
