Last Dance With Vladimir

Howdy, friends. I recently lost my good buddy, Vladmir (my car), when a healthy, live tree annihilated him. I was on a 6 day backpacking trip in Idaho and found out days after it happened. Unfortunately, I was living out of my car when this happened. I'm a biologist (I study birds) and absolutely love what I do but definitley don't have the bucks to afford a new (used) car at this point. My insurance doesn't cover "acts of nature" so that's a big bummer. I donated him to a non-profit who helps underpriveleged children, so I feel good about that.

Vladmir and I had a real swell life together. Lots of cross country road trips (with my catboys, Garfunkel and Hayduke). He was a beast til the bitter end and the only car I've ever had. Totally and completely crushed by the tree, he still tried to hang in there. I was camped next to him the first night which is a terrifying thought... I met some fantastic people in Stanley, Idaho who helped get me out of the middle of nowhere when I had no way of doing it otherwise. Excellent, good-hearted people make me want to just cry and I want to carry them around in my pocket.
