Mr. Hip Presents: Poetry Reading Series

Dear Community,

Mr. Hip Presents: Reading Series is a platform and creative space that fosters a community established and emerging writers, spoken word artists, and jazz musicians in art galleries throughout Boston. In order to create awareness and spread the message of poetry outside the realm of the classroom, we offer free entrance for our youth members.



Our readings feature poetry from academic/established poets, emerging/up-and-coming poets, some fresh/original spoken word artists, live house music provided by a very jazzy trio, musical guests to close out each evening, and we give away books and other goodies to keep our audience interested in poetry at the reading and after it is completed. We get all of our books from local, independent bookstores to keep poetry alive and well within the community.

Due to the sucess and popular demand of our reading series for a second year, we will be back for our second year hosting readings in Boston and are looking for possible funders for these monthly events. 

As a team of four, we appreciate any help we can receive from you all. We want the series to be the best it can possibly be for everyone involved.

PS- We have also collaborated with Trident Booksellers and Cafe, Boston's last indepdent bookshop, and will also be hosting free readings for youth with guest poets reading and participating in a Question and Answer session with the kids.
