Blackie's Surgery
I picked her out from the litter myself when I was 12 years old.
She is now 13 years old and still shows me every day, all the reasons I chose her over the other puppies running around.
Blackie is my black lab (with my clever name for an all black dog). I have had her by my side for the past 13 years and she has helped me through so much. When I went away to college for the first time, she was always there for me. When my parents divorced she helped me through it. When my father passed away from a terrible battle with cancer she lay with me for hours while I cried.
She is suffering from mammary cancer and has a growth that has formed on her abdomin. We have had one surgery already to remove a smaller growth and one has returned in its place and is growing.
The vets recommend that we do a more aggressive surgery and remove her mamary glands completely to take out the tissue where the cancer is forming.
I wouldn't think twice about this surgery for her because she deserves it more than I can explain in words.
It is hard for me to reach out and ask for help because since I was young I have had to do many things on my own and have never asked for help. I have always been able to work harder and make my way through difficult times working 3+ jobs at a time when necessary. Now I fear the difficult times are taking their toll and I will not be able to afford her surgery on my own.
We will be moving back to Northern NY at the end of July and I know we will not have the funds to get her the help she needs.
I ask with all my hear that you donate if you are able to help me raise money for her surgery and I promise that it will go ONLY to Blackie!
She is my world and it hurts me to see her uncomfortable and not be able to do all that I can to help her because of money.
