Homeless Services Agency Needs Your Help

Eight employees, a board of directors and dedicated volunteers, need your help in sustaining an underfunded ministry charged with serving the poor and homeless in Macon/Middle Georgia.

Loaves & Fishes Ministry is a registered 501(c)3 with a 47 year history of providing services to the less fortunate.  Our mission is to serve and improve the quality of life of the poor and homeless through our Day Services Center and our Transitional Housing program for homeless men, women and children. We offer our services to the public without discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, political or religious beliefs.

Currently we find ourselves in critical need of financial assistance due to budget cuts and more people and organizations vying for less money.  Please help us face this dire problem and continue to be a place of hope and reconciliation to the "least of these" by providing essential services and reducing hunger and food insecurity.

Our ministry has the capability to deliver over 45,000 services to our clients in a years time.  The following services are free of charge:

Showers, free laundry services and hygiene kits
Snacks and sack lunches
Groceries (approx. 275 bags per month)
Clothes, coats, blankets and sleeping bags
State Identification & Birth Certificate assistance
Prescription assistance (Generics)
Homeless client mailboxes and access to phones
Classes in financial literacy and health maintenance
Mental health and HIV/AIDS medication and HIV/AIDS homeless housing assistance in collaboration with onsite partner.

Loaves & Fishes Ministry also operates a Transitional Housing program focused on helping homeless individuals and families obtain stability and achieve self sufficiency while living in one of our 11 houses with 55 beds, 32 of which are reserved for children.  It it fully operationsl 24 hours a day, 365 day a year.  Accordingly, each individual and family is case managed to achieve their goals given community partnerships strategically focused on the following outcomes for our clients:

Increased literacy and education
Incresed employment skills
Increesed life and parenting skills
Increased financial literacy
Increased health maintenance
Increased network of available supportive resources
Increased awareness and use of counseling services
Graduate to Permanent Housing  as barriers to housing stability have been reduced.

As it further relates to our transional housing program, in May of 2012, we were gifted a house to increase area housing for women and women with children.  Needless to say, we have been unable to place residents into the house, due to the extensive repairs the structure requires. Please help us continue to decrease homelessness within this underserved population.

Please note that we are a small organization who manage to run 12 houses and a Day Center on a budget of $913.28 a day.  This is indicative of all the expenses; food, utilities, maintenance, repairs, etc. As previously stated, our budget shortfall is due to an increase in all cost and fewer local opportunites for funding.  Please keep in mind that the aforementioned amount leaves us unable to fully fund core essentails which may result in our having to reduce our current levels of service delivery.  This, unfortunately, would leave poorest amoungst us with nowhere to turn in most cases.

In closing, any monetary donation will be greatly appreciated as we seek to continue our goal to Transition Lives, One Individual and One Family at a Time.
