Missy's Fight for sight/ healthcare

Donation protected
My husband Peter and I became concerned in December of 2014 when we saw Missy constantly cleaning her glasses. After several hospital stays and multiple misdiagnosis an MRI showed a mass in Missy's brain. On Feb,2015,Missy had surgery to biopsy the tumor, a meningioma is what they would call it (We are told Missy's tumors really have a name of their own)which is usually benign and generally slow growing. However, a follow up MRI two months later showed that the there were bilateral tumors, one was growing faster than expected. One tumor caused total blindness out of her left eye. The other tumor is inoperable. Missy started a 9 week radiation treatment plan in March 2015. The radiation so far stopped the growth of these tumors. However, they have not shrunk. There is no known time as to how long Missy will remain stable. We are told she will eventually be permanently blind out of both eyes. Since Missy is the only known case of these tumors a treatment plan is still unknown if her tumors begin growing again.  We do not sleep well at night knowing this heart wrenching news.

When we learned of Missy's tumors we were devastated, scared and angry. Our mentor in this process was none other than our Missy. She is such an encouragement to us, always wearing an armor of faith despite the fact she is now permanently blind out of her left eye, due to the irreparable damage of the tumor on the left side. Missy is also partially blind out of her right eye. Even though she continues to undergo difficult medical treatments and procedures she Goes through all of it with faith.

As we struggle to pick our heads up and grasp what we are being told and will continue to deal with we just simply cannot allow this to happen without a fight. We have called dozens of doctors, sent scans and put our name on almost any and all clinical trials that we could find to see if any breakthrough treatments exist.

With all of these attempts comes a financial burden that has been difficult on our family . We went from a two home income to one. Since Missy's Doctors are all over 100 miles round trip. We spend a great deal of time on the road. The mounting medical bills do not seem to ever end.
I care for Missy full time. On top of the worry about desperately trying to save our eldest childs life. I started looking into every possible hospital that could help us with a second opinion. Unfortunately, our insurance did not approve many options.
Missy's tumors remain to be one of a kind. There is not research on such rare tumors. We remain baffled but faithful. Little did I know that our daughter,Missy, would teach us so much about how to have faith in God. My sweet teen has taught me so much about how to be thankful in all situations. Our sweet girl lives everyday with debilitating brain tumors, she has regressed so much. She will continue to need full time care. It does not stop her from having faith that can move mountains.
Please help us pray for a miracle in 2017.
God bless
