Help Give Hope- Ramadan Charity Drive

As-salamu Alaykum, peace be upon you!
Being a Muslim youth in America can be challenging. From finding identity to meeting social expectations, there are a multitude of stressors that the Muslim youth face. These stressors, when not addressed, that can affect the emotional well being of a person and lead to emotional and mental health problems.
-------------------------------Who Are We---------------------------------
Although there are a few mental health resources available for youth,there are many roadblocks that we Muslim youth face in seeking the help that we may need. These roadblocks include the overall mental health stigma, the lack of personal and confidential resources, or even the availability of culturally competent services.
Amala (which stems from “hope” in Arabic) is an upcoming hotline aimed to offer an accessible means of culturally competent peer counseling and resource referral for Muslim Youth. The project was initiated by Muslim youth in Sacramento, a project by Muslim youth for Muslim youth.
----------------------------------The Plan-----------------------------------
Our plan, Insha Allah, is to launch by fall of 2014, but we need your help! There are many costs associated with launching and running a hotline--phone service, computers, hotline software--just to name a few. That's where your help comes in!
We cannot start this project without the support, both monetarily and morally, of our Muslim community.
---------------------------------The Budget------------------------------
We calculated at least $28,000 annually to properly run a hotline. The bulk of the budget goes to making sure that we have qualified counselors to oversee all operations, and provide professional help with difficult cases. Another large expense is the hotline software and phone system.
Annual Budget Breakdown:
First month: $6,500
-Professional staff
-Software setup and fees
-Computers and office tools
-Phones and phone service
-Any micellaneous items that may be needed to help get started
Following months: $2,000 each month
-Monthly software fees
-Professional staff

As we enter the month of Ramadan, we want to give everyone a chance to pitch in and take part in a greatly needed health resource for Muslim youth in our communities. Ramadan is the best time to give, and this is the charity that, with your support, will continue to give and help generations to come. Help us reach our goal by the end of Ramadan!
