Asa Lovechild's Identity Crisis

Everyone needs a little help from their friends sometimes. Well the time has come for me to ask my followers, friends, and family for your help bringing my latest venture to the masses. Oh AND there are some cool incentives too ONLY for you guys!

It has been eight years since my first album hit the airwaves, globally. Since then, I have been working to the bone  to get the second album going. I have sold everything but the kitchen sink and everyone has been waiting for my next big project.

Years ago there was not a sense of urgency and society was not experiencing the unrest that it is experiencing now. The injustices that are being carried out all over the world have been magnified greatly because of instant access to images and footage of those atrocities. In response to the unrest, I have embarked on a collaborative project that I call Identity Crisis.

Identity Crisis is a collective of music, theater, and poetry that focuses on societal issues that have directly and indirectly affected and disrupted the internal peace of women of color. It brings to life our joy, pain, and discoveries. For centuries, we have been thrown against a canvas that clearly makes us seem abstract and at times invisible to the world.

We all suffer from an identity crisis. But for women, that crisis is elevated by being muted in society and made to be insubordinate to the powers that be. Now take that and couple it with being a woman of color who is not sure of how she should act; dress; and speak, due to always having to conform to what a male dominated society has approximated her to be. I am here to tell those stories and offer healing through the arts.
I have enlisted a team of the best in the industry who are passionate and adamant about me completing this project. Leading the project is producer/bassist Warren McRae of 24/7 Entertainment. Warren is known for his work with several greats such as Janet Jackson, Lionel Richie, Joe Cocker, Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner , Roger Davies, and Tony Award winner Billy Porter(Kinky Boots), to name only a few. His skill with producing and interpretation has also led to him producing music for The Best Man Holiday soundtrack.

I consider myself to be an advocate for change, especially when it comes to justice and fairness for all of those around me. My gift to others comes through my music. I am the voice for the voiceless. My responsibility is to make sure that through what I was blessed with, I am helping to contribute to society in a positive light, while giving voice to how others feel through song and interpretation. Your gift to me for my birthday, Christmas, my wedding, my first born, would be your generous donation in funding my project
