On the Arms of Greatness
Spende geschützt
From the moment the participants of World War II came home, we knew something was different. These warriors were scarred in ways different from other wars: they carried images, emblazened with color upon their skin for the rest of their days.
Colorful scars to remind them of the camaraderie with their fellow soldiers, the oath of duty to their country...or even that pretty lady with whom they were acquainted while on leave.
As the valley between the great wars and the present day is filled with years, we lose more and more of these heroes. As we lose these heroes, we also lose the colors of their memories.
My goal is to capture, catalog and share these memories with the world and the generations to come in the form of a coffee table book, documentary and website.
I , accompanied by a small team, will travel America for a month. We'll visit VFW halls, Elk Lodges, rest homes and more. We will capture images of the tattoos of veterans of wars from World War II through Vietnam. We will also capture video and audio of their stories...parts of their stories will be included in the book and each interview will be placed on the website.
The amount of the goal reflects a three month project with labor, transportation, gear and overhead.
You may ask, "But why are you qualified to run this project?" I've been working in production for over a decade with an emphasis on photography, post production and direction. You can view examples of my work and my resume at http://chascuts.com .
