THE RACE IS ON and we need your help
Hi! We are Amy and Curtis Easton. We are siblings from Hervey Bay, Queensland. We are super psyched that we have been selected to represent Australia at the World Outrigging Titles, held in Tahiti this July.
BUT
We need YOUR help to raise $7,530 so that we can get there.
"My wonderful children, Amy and Curtis, are such an inspiration for me. I am so proud of these two angels. They are Hervey Bay siblings and the support and camaraderie of their sport has helped them overcome huge obstacles in their lives.
They have worked very hard and kept training and competing, against the odds. Curtis faced opposition from his peers who, at times, made him feel that he was having to choose between his sport and his friends.
Like many, they are from a working class family and we all know the costs of getting kids around the countryside to play sports. And this is no ordinary sport. These two have travelled greatly to compete here in Australia, working their way up the ladder, from local to state to national level, to get to be selected to represent their country. They finally have been given the greatest reward an athlete can hope for, but the family needs your help to get them to Tahiti. Amy, at just 19 years old, will compete in the "Open Women" category and Curtis is competing in the "Boys Under 16" category.
Please get behind them and let's help two more locals put Hervey Bay on the world stage. Dig deep!!!!" - Mum
Why crowdfund?
Curtis’ school teachers are very proud of his outstanding achievements, and as part of the school’s commitment to supporting their students, they are holding a fundraiser fun day at the school. The event is on Monday 18th June, and will feature Tahitian-themed games and a hima’a feast (Tahitian-style, earth-oven baked food), a cake stand and a lucky dip stall. All profits collected will be donated to this appeal. So far, local businesses have donated a slow-cooker and camping gear for the lucky dip, potatoes, pumpkin and sweet potatoes for the hima’a, and chocolates for games prizes. Donations are still sought for food for the hima’a (carrots, onions and meat or poultry), and for the lucky dip stall. Please contact us through Facebook if you can help with this.
A few of our friends and family have kick-started our campaign. The funds raised by the school will be added to our campaign, too. But we will still need your help.
Your Impact:
Any contribution you make will go straight into the cost of competing. We need $7,530 to compete in Tahiti.
The $7,530 we hope to raise will pay for:
Uniforms (each) $300.00
Flights and accommodation (each) $1,500.00
Race fees (each) $200.00
Food (each) $500.00
Transport (each) $700.00
Total: $7,530.00 (This includes the crowdfunding fee.)
