An Experimental Diabetic Operation!

Hi,

My name is Amy Cumbow.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes when I was two years old. I'm now 24.

For 22 years, I've struggled with the challenges and difficulties that my illness has thrown at me.

I've been hospitalized for lengthy stints and brief ones. Diabetes has taken away my body's ability to regulate its own blood sugar and insulin levels, to feel its nerve-endings in my limbs, and to live life as a healthy person.

But now... I have been given a rare opportunity to change that. A glimpse of hope.

A group of doctors in Florida are running an experimental operation for Type 1 Diabetics like myself, and it's a procedure that hasn't had much research to support it yet -- but with the little time that it's been around... it's gotten A LOT of positive feedback and successful results.

I've been accepted to participate (!!!) -- it would be a chance at a life as a healthier individual, and I'd love to take it.

The operation will cost $25,000 out-of-pocket, and this is why my sister suggested I create a page like this.

Honestly, I don't know what I'm expecting to come out of this page. Please, if you can, I would graciously, humbly, and very much appreciatively accept any donation you might be able to offer me.

Diabetes sucks. It's literally killing me. I would do anything to stop that process. And I would fully accept the ability to help others with similar situations.  And, that's why I'm here.

Thank you.
