My name is Alexandria Allen. I was born in Dallas, TX but I've grown up in Vermont since I was 11 years old and I will always call it home. I struggled in high school to achieve good grades. It wasn't until I graduated and attended the Community College of Vermont for 2 years to get my act together. I've transferred to the Champlain College in Burlington, VT where I have made Dean's List twice and have a consistent GPA of 3.4. My major is Creative Media and it is a major that allows me to focus on three mediums of art: writing, visual art, and film theory. Next year I plan to minor in Communications and Marketing.
Champlain College offers all students the opportunity to study abroad at their hubs in Montreal and Dublin. I have chosen Dublin because it is more for my major.
My parents relocated to Dallas, TX while I was in my first semester at Champlain and I have come to live with them over the summer until going to Dublin, Ireland.
I've been searching for a job in Dallas for over a month and no luck has come my way. I will not give up my search but I now believe I will not be able to afford to study abroad.
In order to enter the country of Ireland I must enter the country with at least $2,700 which only equals 2,000 Euro. I also have not yet purchased my ticket for Ireland which costs between $950 to $2,000 depending on the day of purchase.
So I'm getting close to the wire. Even if I do get a job within the next week or two I will not be able to earn nearly $4,000 by the third week of August.
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone is able to donate for my chance to travel outside the country for the first time.
