My name is s, and i will be graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in English this year. During my time at UW, i started a design service called Unbodied Design that aims to re-imagine graphic design from an anti-oppression lens.
As a college graduation gift to myself, i wanted to participate in a study abroad program focused on social justice and ngo activism as headed by the most influential instructor of my undergrad career to connect with my Desi/South Asian identity in a way that centers my anti-oppression values and recognizes the importance of humane scholarship. This feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit South Asia in a way that will not require me to compromise my queer identity/genderqueer identity, and will let me think about internalized racism in a critical and emotionally affirming way. i would love to be able to end my undergrad experience with this trip, before i have to start doing "grown-up" things!
