Hello friends and family of A Horses Friend,
We are writing on behalf of Matthew Doward. As for many of us this winter has been very trying. Now imagine what it might be like to care for 30 horses and have very little winter business. Normally, we always make it work (and have for 10 years). He would never reach out, but we will. Recently we have had two major events happen that have really put us on our heels. First, Matt’s main mode of transportation and the truck that gets the feed and bedding for our horses died. And there are no funds to replace it. We are relying on volunteer truck service from some friends.
Second, and most major, our dear sweet Whiskey, an 11 yr old thoroughbred that is part of our youth program has suffered a significant injury to her head. After a pasture accident, she has had broken bones removed from her sinus and been stitched very carefully back together by Dr. Pacheco from Genesee Valley Equine. She will most likely need sequestrum surgery as well. She is looking at a long-term recovery.
Ok, so here is, what we ask of all of you; please donate to us as much or as little as you can to help us recover and continue our work with children in need. There are so many of you out there, so please send a dollar, send $1000. Just please do something besides comment. Please send messages to everyone you know to help.
