These garments mirror industrialism and construction in color + materials, while foreshadowing futuristic elements of architecture + building design in shape. The show’s industrial elements are juxtaposed with raw materials needed to survive while living on the land.

Wilkins started in 2015 with 100% Cacao, a fashion show that honored the diaspora of Black/African American peoples and their beauty. With this showcase, Malissa seeks to arrange an art exhibit that will play on the typical characteristics of a fashion show. Featuring models from her own agency, Resurrection Noir, the exhibit will capture the models as they emulate mannequins who’ve been clothed with original pieces by Afrovelvet.
When: Ongoing (DC, New Orleans, Atlanta, Austin, LA, New York, Baltimore, Pittsburgh)
Who: Afrovelvet +Resurrection Noir w/ live music accompaniment from Babyt33th, CMPVTR CLVB, Yung Vul, etc.
