On February 21, 2013, my cousin, Kristen Gajdos, at only 24 weeks into her pregnancy, was flown from Delaware to
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, for an emergency C section.
Later that day, Kristen and Matt Gajdos welcomed their twin baby girls, Adley Paige
Gajdos and Beibhinn Lily Gajdos.
The girls were born at only 24 weeks gestation. Adley weighed 1 lb. 8 oz. and Beibhinn weighed 1 lb. 6 oz.
Both girls have faced daily, if not hourly, battles for their lives.
On March 12, 2013, Beibhinn became her family's guardian angel. She lost her fight for life to multiple organ failure, but continues to provide her family strength and comfort as Adley continues to fight.
The girls and their parents have shown unwavering strength throughout this time. Kristen and Matt have had to relocate to Baltimore to be close to Hopkins' NICU so that they can be by Adley's side until she is well enough to be transferred to a hospital closer to their home in Delaware.
The past month has taken a tremendous toll on the family in every imaginable way. Their fight is not over and they ask for your support through their toughest time.
Donations go towards the girls' medical bills and other expenses the family has incurred. Donations are tax deductible.
