Petra's Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Rogier Fahie, and on behalf of my wife Petra and our family, we are asking for help!!! We have been married for 4 ½ years. Petra has 2 wonderful children whom we both love very much. We are faithful followers of Christ. About a month after I was laid off from my job, Petra began feeling sick. She became extremely tired and her left leg began swelling. Like most Caribbean women, she ignored the pain and continued to do the housework until she couldn’t bare it anymore. An intense pain hit her left abdominal which she described as “worse the childbirth”. On December 3, 2014 she was rushed to the emergency room. She received several tests including a CT scan to determine the root cause. Unfortunately, the CT scan wasn’t clear enough so it was repeated 2 more times. A sonogram of her knee and leg was negative for any blood clots. She could barely walk. It wasn’t easy seeing the love of my life in so much pain. I felt helpless. It was finally determined after 29 hours that she had an unknown mass which was suspicious for Lymphoma. We didn’t know what to think or what Lymphoma was. The ER doctor prescribed some painkillers and recommended seeing her primary care physician who then sent her for an MRI. Based on the test results, she needed to see a specialist. We had no healthcare thus everything was out of pocket until she finally got through with the Medical Assistance Program. An appointment was then scheduled for her to see an Oncologist/Hematologist on the 19th of January. She had to be taken back to the ER because of pain two more times before being admitted to the hospital on January 12th. Petra was discharged on the 16th and given more pain medication. We got to her off-island appointment on the 19th and after examining her and viewing the previous test results from December, the doctor admitted her to the hospital. She faced a battery of tests including a bone-marrow biopsy and a biopsy of a lymph node in her neck. Finally we were told that she had Diffuse B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is not exactly what we wanted to hear, but had to trust God. She got her mediport and did the first of 6 chemo treatments. The cancer is classified as a stage 4 because the bone-marrow has been affected to some degree. Typically, this type of cancer is very treatable and curable. As of right now, she will has four more treatments of chemo left. She will also have 3 spinal tap procedures with chemo administered to her brain fluid as a precaution. During all the time in the hospital she still had pain and swelling in her left leg. The swelling got worse at which point she was sent for another sonogram. The results revealed a blood clot so the doctor had a Vena Cava filter put in to prevent it from reaching her heart or lungs. 3 days before she was scheduled to go home, they found that clot. She could not be placed on blood thinners because of the spinal tap procedures. God is good. We cannot express how grateful we are for all the help we have received thus far. We are not setting a specific goal....it says "$5,000", but as much money raised as possible is what we are praying for! Our God is so big and mighty with no limits!! Help support Petra and our family in our biggest time of need!!! This situation can and will bring glory to God! Help Petra win in her fight for life!!!
