Kirin needs surgery. We need your help.

Kirindog needs surgery to repair a (1) torn and (2) ruptured cranial cruciate ligaments (CCL; info here). In humans, the CCL is called the anterior cruciate ligament (or ACL). She's not even four years old, and without surgery she can't walk, she can't run, she can't play frisbee, she can't play Chuckit, and she can't play with other dogs. While surgery is no guarantee she'll return to full Kirinstrength, it's the only option. A bit of background:
Last January, we noticed Kirin was having difficulty standing up after bouts of activity. There were times when she couldn't get herself off the floor at all. Five months later, after rest, recuperation, reduction in activity, and alternative treatments, Kirin's condition has worsened. Two weeks ago, we confirmed with a third veterinarian that Kirin will need knee surgery to repair a torn CCL. To make things worse, Kirin ruptured the CCL in her other knee last week! Despite the fact that surgery and recovery will add three more months to Kirin's already six-month ordeal, we keep hope we'll all be able to see her run again.

These procedures are expensive (especially when you are doing two of them at the same time), hovering around $6500 for the cost of surgery plus physical therapy targeted to speed recovery and return an active dog to an active lifestyle. We are asking our friends, family, and whoever else comes across this to contribute whatever they can to support Kirindog. If you've ever met Kirin, she's no doubt made you smile.
