Isla Grace Hospital Adventure

We are writing to you today to ask for your help with something rather special.

We are currently undertaking a major fund raising drive to help a little girl who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in September last year. To give you a little background, Isla-Grace is currently 17 month’s old from Leeds and has been having chemotherapy at Leeds General Infirmary since October. Her mum and dad, Beth and Rhys are themselves only 20 years old.

Ewing’s Sarcoma is an aggressive bone and tissue cancer which requires intensive, lengthy treatment. It is a rare cancer and accounts for only 1.5% of childhood cancers diagnosed every year. In March, Isla will be having a major operation to remove the main part of the tumour and will then likely need to continue her treatment abroad whilst undergoing Proton Therapy in one of only 3 centres in the World, as we do not yet offer this in the UK. The target money we need to raise for this to cover the costs not funded by the NHS , is £10,000 in just a short space of time.

I am Isla's Grandma and I'm going to overcome a lifelong fear of heights especially for my precious Granddaughter by doing a sponsored abseil down Jury's Inn hotel in Bradford on 6th March 2015, A fantastic local company from York called Lost Earth adventure have agreed to do this event free of charge enabling us to give 100 % of the proceeds raised to Isla's cause. I am hoping lots of lovely people will encourage me and support Isla at the same time by sponsoring me for this challenge.

We have also organised a fund raising day for her on 1st March @ LA Fitness, Yeadon from 1pm (where all are welcome) to raise money for Isla. My employer, CLS Identification is also undertaking sponsored activities over the next few months in addition.

Should our funds grow beyond that needed, we will be delighted to be able to give back to those charities and organisations who have been helping our family during the last few months, namely Candlelighter’s, Macmillan, ClicSargent and of course The Children’s Cancer Trust.
