Sponsoring Indigenous Participants
Donation protected
Twenty Indigenous people from around the world need sponsorship to participate in "Aashukan", a two-day exchange in Northern Quebec, Canada in the ancestral homelands of Eeyou Istchee in the James Bay Cree community of Waskaganish.
We are looking for funds to help pay for their international flights to Quebec, Canada. They need to be purchased by February 28th, 2017.
Aashukan means 'bridge' in eastern Cree. The goal of the event is to create a new conversation that reconciles development and the protection of Indigenous culture and lands. It will seek to build bridges between these two imperatives for the benefit of all. By supporting International Indigenous participants to attend Aashukan, you are helping spread the concept of 'Miyupimaatisiiun' - the Indigenous idea that well-being requires harmony with oneself and one’s surroundings.
