Gay family seeking legal security

My best friends are a same sex married couple that recently had the CUTEST twins.
The problem is that Arizona does not recognize same sex marriages.
One of the Dad's is biologically the Father, but because the state doesn't recognize their marriage they can't file for a "Second Parent Adoption." After working with an attorney for a year they have found that there has only been one other similar case in Arizona; it took a few years litigation to settle (and I'm sure you can imagine the amount of money it took.) Herein lies the problem, if something were to happen to the biological father there are no laws protecting his Husband & the kids. With the costs of legal fees and the uncertainty of winning, they have decided to move to Washington DC instead of taking their chances in a biased court. The other thing that they are worried about is that their case may set a precedent for other same sex couples to follow, especially if the ruling wasn't found in their favor. In order to do the best thing for their family they have decided to pull up their longtime Phoenix roots and relocate to a state that is more in favor of same sex couples to establish residency, and finalize their adoption. In doing this, the biological father has to close his well established practice, sell their house and both of them have to uproot the family, leaving everyone they know and love behind. All while spending the money they had saved for the adoption fees, on moving fees.  I would like to help ease the burden for them and raise some funds, so once they have relocated; they can go ahead and proceed with the adoption, so that the family is safe and secure.
