For many years, Bottega has been a haven for art, poetry, and music. A place that has embraced creative spirits of all ages, races, and orientations, allowing untold numbers of artists to grow and thrive and get really drunk for super cheap. When Bo closed her doors a few months ago, for many of us, this was less like a business being shuttered and more like losing a family member.
We all mourned the loss.
But one of us was a big damn hero.
Addie Wuensch saved Bottega.
As everyone who has ever laughed or drawn or drummed or drank at Bottega knows the heart and soul of our community, the beacon of hope and love and weirdness that draws us in and keeps us afloat is Addie Wuensch. For years she has served our drinks, soothed our ragged spirits, brought us untold beauties, and generally been the best human ever.
Owning Bottega has been her dream for all that time and she did something too few of us ever do, she went and made her dream a reality.
After Bottega's last location was purchased, leaving it homeless and doomed to permanent closure, Addie picked up the torch, purchased the business, and set out to find a new location for our old home. And now she’s found the perfect spot and created an all new Bottega in the Brooklyn Arts district!
She has worked extremely hard to turn the new space into a familiar place for the regulars, as well as something that can expand into a palace for Art for be inspired, created, and displayed as an outlet for local artists to show and sell their work.
She has poured every dime and every liter of sweat she has into into this space, working solely on this project without an income. The results are phenomenal. And she is so close to properly opening her doors one can nearly taste the wine and hear the drums. But she needs a little help to get over the finish line. She has tirelessly supported this community for more than a decade, now we have the opportunity to give a little something back to the bizzare little bar, and the wonderful bartender, who have given so much to us.
In order to get the beer and wine flowing again at Bo, in order for this magical space to continue to be, we all need to chip in just a little bit. Bottega has always been about the weird, close, special family we are. It’s only right, poetic, even, that we all come together to get Addie over the next one or two months so she can build something amazing for all of us.
