A Miracle for Michael Moss

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends and Well Wishers,
First, our family would like to thank all of you who have sent your support and prayers to us at this most difficult time. As many of you know, Michael Moss, (our son, brother, friend, teammate, etc) was tragically shot on December 19th  while visiting his family on the Southside of Chicago. Thankfully, Michael is at Comer Children's Hospital where the amazing medical staff is working hard to save his life. Some of you might know that Michael is a freshman honor student and basketball player at Glenbard East High School. Michael's life drastically changed for the worse while walking back from a nearby McDonalds when a car approached him, on the block of 48th Ada street. The window of the car rolled down and fired shots hitting Michael 4 times: once in the chest, once in the arm, and twice in his side.
The bullet from the chest entered his stomach and caused a lot of damage to his abdominal area. Michael is a resident of DuPage County where crimes similar to this are very rare. The likelihood of kids getting shot simply walking to McDonald's in DuPage County would never happen, because of the respect for life and safety for all kids. He felt safe taking a short walk to McDonald's. He did not know that the viaduct he walked through had a history of violence, shootings and killings.
During this holiday season this tragedy of senseless crime has brought fear and sadness to Michael's and his siblings' lives. At the same time they are hopeful, optimistic and overwhelmed by the love, prayers and support they are receiving daily from family, friends and well-wishers. Nevertheless, we need to do more, much more!
Michael's mother works hard to keep food on the table and clothes on the children's backs. Due to this unfortunate situation, she has now had to take a leave from her job to help Michael and his siblings recover from this unfortunate tragedy. As she struggles to get their basic needs met, they will still need counseling and other support to make their lives whole again.
Sadly, we need help with Michael's recovery, because of this life altering change; they took away his sense of safety and jeopardized his life and future. We need help with traveling cost, parking, and so much. Michael Moss is an honorable young man and does not deserve this, nor should anyone else. The violence needs to stop and this is not a problem in just the city of Chicago. This is a serious problem spreading throughout Illinois. This is not ok! This is a plea for help and support for Michael Moss and his siblings; if possible any donation would be greatly appreciated.
