On Christmas day, Joey was en route to his grandparents, and crashed into a tree. Upon impact, his car caught fire. Joey sustained severe injuries from the glass and shrapnel. Shards of glass entered his chest and stomach- his aorta was split, he has a hole in his heart. He also suffered injuries to his liver and stomach.
Joey was admitted to the ICU, where he was put into a medically induced coma. Earlier during the day, the doctors announced that he had a 50/50 chance of survival; later that night, they were much more confident. Joey will remain in a coma for at least a week, but up to a month!
Joey will pull through because he is a fighter, but with this hole in his heart, he will also have a huge hole in his pockets. His dad stated that Joey will likely have to declare bankruptcy with all of the bills from this horrible accident.
Let's help him survive financially, and wake up to a world of good news from his friends, family and fellow Chivers. We know the goal is lofty but any amount will help.
