Youth After School Pick Up Program

Tax deductible
Neighborhood empowerment and rejuvenation effort in Jacksonville, Florida in need of eighteen (18) passenger van to expand operations.

United Congregations for Communities & Youth (UCCY) is a 501-C3 faith-based outreach. Our mission is to empower our participants to improve their quality of life, and the quality of life of their family and communities through creative youth development prevention and intervention measures. These measures include parent empowerment and family preservation efforts along with life skills, career exploration, leadership development, and good moral compasses (The Way to Happiness, Truth about Drugs, and Human Rights Awareness programs). Our standards are set forth by following the Creator of the Universe's's love standards, and enacted through positively united faith inclusive grassroots efforts.

United Congregations for Communities and Youth (UCCY), a faith-based outreach organization operates in a community center offering programs and resources for at-risk children and their families in the areas of family preservation, career exploration and leadership development.
To broaden our reach to include five subsidized apartment complexes and increase attendance in our programs by at-risk youth between the ages of 5-17, a safe mode of transportation is necessary.
Our goal is to keep at-risk youth off the streets, and in attendance of wholesome, constructive programs that will ensure success in their lives in the Arlington community.

As part of the our commitment to serving the Jacksonville area, UCCY is looking to acquire a 18 passenger van for pick up at the local schools in the Arlington community to transport them to our A3 (Arts, Academics, & Athletics) Program at the Blue Cypress Community Center. The purchase of a van will allow us to serve more youth and families living in challenged areas that do not have a mode of transportation to our center. The center is located within a five mile radius of five subsidized apartment complexes with a total of 4300 at-risk youth between the ages of 5-17 in this area. The van will help us decrease the number of latch-key kids in this immediate area. Acquiring a van will also give access to additional teens who want to attend on a regular basis but need a safe mode of transportation home. Ultimately, a program van will increase the overall number of youth and families benefiting the programs and services provided through our site.

During the start of the 2017 School year, United Congregations has seen an increase of interested youth and parents coming through our doors to participate in our A3 program. While our summer program thrived this year, we had an influx of new youth register with our agency to attend our school year programs who are outside of the area of after school bus routes. With the majority of the schools surrounding our area of operation being changed to magnet or charter schools, it has become incumbent upon us to find a way to assist these youth who desire to attend our programs during the school year. By helping UCCY acquire a van for transport, this will allow us to coordinate with neighboring schools for a timely and safe pick up location for our youth, and ensure that they can benefit from the activities provided at our community center. With your help, and additional assistance by our local partners, we can come together to provide a much need asset in our mission of bringing quality youth development programming and peace of mind to the youth and families we serve in the greater Arlington area of Jacksonville, Fl.
