I don't think I can accurately...

I don't think I can accurately explain how much I love Nolan's Batman trilogy. Batman Begins came out at the time in my life when I was losing my mother---and exactly four months later she passed away.

I didn't see Batman Begins in theatres. I didn't see Dark Knight opening weekend. But I have such love in my heart for the superhero without the superpowers. The ordinary man who struggles to appear uncaring in his daily life and has to wear a mask to truly be himself.

I have a tattoo on my right wrist that reads, "Why do we fall?" It's a quote from Batman Begins and the answer is "To Learn How to Pick Ourselves Up." Anytime I'm sad or lonely or scared---all I have to do is ask myself "Why Do We Fall?" and I make it through another day.

I can't begin to tell you how broken hearted I am over the Aurora Colorado shooting. The fact that someone would take something so important to me and thousands of other people across the globe and use it to destroy innocence, take lives, and wound innocent people is just--it's beyond me.

If I had a 'redo' button, I wouldn't use it to see my Mom again. I'd use it to save the people of Aurora, Colorado.

Since I read my first article about the trajedy on Friday morning, I've been scrambling to try and make a difference. I started a fundraiser through gofundme.com/WeAreBatman.

I reached out to my friends and they put me in contact with the Red Cross, they donated their artwork, their time, their skill set.

I finally have a location interested in a physical fundraiser and I'm going to spend some time this week making Batman themes crafts to raffle off to raise donations. I'm going to try and see if the Big Red Bus can come out and we can get some more blood over to Colorado.

Someone told me I was amazing this week. I don't feel amazing. I've raised what feels like a tiny sum of $130 and I hit roadblocks every time I try to get more help to make this a truly spectacular fundraiser.

All I want is to make a difference in one life.

I want to remind people that Batman isn't about murders in movie theaters. He's about integrity and doing your best to better the city and the world around you. He's about learning to stand up again each time you fall. He's about inner strength.

Most importantly, Batman is about being extraordinary when you're only just ordinary.

So, please help me make a difference--even if it's just one life.

Please.

I know by now word has spread about the tragic shooting during a midnight showing of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises."

Batman may not be a hero we can go to in today's times for help--but Batman is still an idea.

" It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Today, I'm asking for a little help. A dollar or two, or share the word, to get this out there so that we the people can do a little bit to help out the victims and their families.

I know the President has issued a statement, I know the Police are doing their part, but I feel like if we can rise up just a little--we can all be Batman. We can do something to help.

While the money is gathering, I intend on contacting the newspapers in Aurora, Colorado and finding out the appropriate place to send the money. If you find this first--don't hesitate to ask for my contact information.

Today, We are Batman.

"Why do we fall?" "To learn how to pick ourselves up."

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

All money collected will be donated to the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross in Colorado. They can be found here:  http://www.coloradoredcross.org/general.asp?SN=199&OP=7094&IDCapitulo=Q4Q26NY21N If you prefer to donate directly.

Again, Thanks!
