What is new for this season in 2013?
Check out our website lately? Google Earth released the newest photograph of the Wendron Moors Estate Farm from outer space! It was shot in approximately April of 2013.
You can clearly see the final phases of construction of our perimeter fence project. The fence is designed in such a way as to deter the dogs that share the yard as part of the Canine Sanctuary from digging around the fence or attempting to leave the perimeter. To visit this Urban Farm and Canine Sanctuary, contact us to schedule a tour.
In the new photo you can also see the new tarping that was placed on the garlic fields. That plot also known as “Plot 1” is now approximately 95% tarped and planted with cool weather crops. The tarps help minimize the amount of weeding that needs to be done as well as traps the water in the soil to minimize the need for watering. Using large berms of earth that are covered also insures that the warmed earth keeps the plants warm long after the sun sets on our sometimes chilly Smoky Mountain nights.

Recently the website got a facelift. A cleaner, and easier to use version of the website was release. As part of that redevelopment we took the time to rewrite and refocus the “About Us” section of our website. Making our mission as a educational urban farming system more clear, and more concise. Take a moment to visit this new section located at -- http://www.vertigrowfarms.com/about_us
Get Involved. Spread the word about us by telling your friends. Come see what we are doing. Spend time with our furry friends. Help us grow, and help others by clicking the “Donate Now” button on the left hand side of the page. This will take you to the VertiGrow Farms Operating Fund home page. VertiGrow Farms has chosen the company “GoFundMe” to help us process online charitable donations. Their processing fee is greatly reduced as compared to any other donation management agency.
If you haven’t already followed us on Facebook follow our feed to receive invites to all of our events, as well as, to keep up to date with what we are doing on our urban farm.
Thank you for your time and continued interest in what we do here...

Wanted to send out an update to everyone who is following our Go Fund Me efforts.
We now have Plot 1 almost fully planted. Containing garlic, red onions, zucchini (for making our famous zucchini bread), bush beans and tomatoes.
Plot two will be cultivated this week on Wednesday. Plans for it are still in the works.
We have started our rabbit population with a cute female, and also we have baby quail hatchlings.
We have also transitioned and updated our website. It is now cleaner and more concise. Allowing users to get to the information quickly. I would encourage everyone to take a look at it, www.vertigrowfarms.com.
And for the fun of it, I have attached a video of some of our baby quail hatchlings, taken today. They are only twelve hours old and are feeding well, cute and rambunctious little babies.
Please take time to visit our revamped site, look at our mission and information and if you have the resources consider donating to our operations fund. Every penny counts, and helps.

We have made head way in our financials today. We are now a Square Up merchant accepting credit card donations and payments. Our Go Fund Me account is completely set up as well, allowing us to take donations via the internet. Finally our BlueBird American Express account is linked into all of these features and our charity organization status has been verified with American Express as well... Expect that in the future, you will be able to review all of our accounts and expenditures online, allowing you to see how your donations are being used... -- Jeffrey Johnson - VertiGrow Farms.

VertiGrow Farms is an urban farming organization dedicated to the education and utilization of technology based farming techniques. Our goal is to provide safe, healthy, locally grown and sourced foods to food banks, charity food organizations, and local school systems.
Our organization is an outlet and a resource to community members with a wide range of mental handicaps such as ADD, ADHD, PTSD, Asperger's Syndrome and Autism. VertiGrow Farms is a place where those who suffer from these illnesses can be productive, and participate in activities that provide therapeutic value.
Our goal is to operate our farms in a way that allows children and adults the ability to overcome academic, social, and emotional difficulties so they may reach their full potential by providing them with the opportunity and necessary tools to help achieve excellence in all facets of their lives.
VertiGrow Farms is a not for profit organization that utilizes all monies generated, and donated to maintain and continue it’s endeavors in these pursuits.
