Fundraiser for Valarie's Children

This account was set up in August to assist Valarie Chadwick and her six children. Valarie is 28 and her children's ages are: 3 month old twin boys; 5 year old boy/girl twins; 6 year old son and an 8 year old daughter. Her circumstances have changed since then, and the needs are greater now. Earlier this year, several news agencies reported a surprising number of young adults died during the latest flu season. One of those young adults was Valarie’s 29 year old fiancé and father of both sets of twins. Just before Christmas 2013, and shortly after finding out they were expecting a second set of twins, Lee died from complications of influenza. Lee and Valarie had a wedding date set for March 29th, 2014.
In June, less than 6 months later and just before Valarie gave birth, her doctors discovered she had a very rare cancer, small cell cervical. It is estimated only 100 cases of small cell cervical cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States. They do not know what causes it, and it can be very aggressive. The latest attempt to conduct a clinical trial at M.D. Anderson was discontinued when they found only 3 participants, so it is treated similar to small cell lung cancer with a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. Valarie started chemotherapy less than 48 hours after her twins were born. The twins were in an Arkansas NICU unit for several weeks. Unfortunately, after cancer scans in late September, Valarie was told her cancer had spread and treatments have been discontinued. She has moved into Hospice care at this stage of her journey. This young family has been through so much in such a short time. There is not any life insurance in place to help with the pending expenses that are needed, or the children's welfare and future needs. We hope by raising funds for Valarie and her children, we can ease a little of the burdens, anxieties, and concern they are facing on the road ahead.
