Keeping our Veterans IN THE KNOW!

Donation protected
My name is Diane M. Williamson, U.S. Army Veteran and founder of The Veterans Community Media Network. This organization was borne out of a frustration at the VA’s bureaucratic red tape to qualify me for my benefits. I became homeless while waiting to receive what’s due me. This should not happen to any veteran. It became apparent and frightening at what we vets were not told about our resources! I vowed to tell my story every chance I got. There are vets that need to know and should know. My motto became PURSUE WHATS DUE YOU! We, at TVCMN, are excited and passionate about keeping our veterans informed of all their benefits and resources. It’s important that they have access to these resources to better their lives.

In fact, our mission at The Veterans Community Media Network is “to improve the lives of our veterans through access to technology.”

TECHNOLOGY. It is always changing. You must keep up or you’ll be left behind. So… how does TVCMN stay on the technology highway for our vets?
We have a three-pronged approach to helping our vets.

First, we conduct monthly Townhall meetings right here in our neighborhood; the West Oakland Library.

Next, we are putting together a computer lab for vets who need to keep their skills up, sign up for healthcare or begin a claim, etc.

The third way is:
This is our new show on a local Community Access Channel in Berkeley and San Francisco. It’s all about vets, by vets!

After going through 2 homeless veterans programs, I learned how to manage my PTSD, get control of my health concerns, and go on to finish school at SFSU with a B.A. in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts.

What better way to give back than to use my skills to help other vets to succeed?

This is my mission.

TVCMN can serve all veterans, older and those just out of the service. Oakland, Ca, has a high rate of vets that aren’t aware of their benefits as well as those who have pursued their benefits with little or no success. This leads to losses of income, housing and access to healthcare. TVCMN can train the vet to go onto the computer, set up accounts on the E-Benefits portal, monitor claims, health concerns, jobs and housing. This approach builds confidence in their ability to manage their affairs as well as have community support while doing so. For the veteran, knowing that they are NOT forgotten, when they’ve laid their lives on the line, is invaluable. For TVCMN to be successful, the doors must remain open. We can stay open for the next 4 months, allowing us to pursue all possible funding streams. We will be able to expand TVCMN’s referral systems, continue to partner with other agencies that can help our veterans, as well as plan our monthly events that will draw clients to our office. You can help create our One-Stop Shop for vet assistance. Your support is key in solving this problem.

Would you consider donating at least $25 to help us achieve our mission?

We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to keep the doors open and the lights on, or send a check to this address:
