Hello, my name is Christine Richards. On June 17, 2016 at approximately 12:30pm my dear friend Tyra Pacheco was in a terrible accident. Tyra is a professional photographer. She is a master at her trade. With her talented eye and love for what she does, she has become one of the most sought after photographers in her profession.

It’s that time of year again when Tyra spends countless hours strategically planning and mapping the coordinates for the pilot….You see, Tyra specializes in architectural, aerial and estate photography. She has done this many times. She actually looked forward to it. Unfortunately, this time something went tragically wrong when their helicopter crashed. Tyra and her trusted pilot, John Ryan, like so many times before were flying along the coast of Cape Cod. Being the experienced pilot that John is, he was somehow able to manipulate the place of impact. First responders have stated, had they crashed four feet more one way (deeper into Crows Pond, Chatham) they would have both drowned. They also stated had they gone four feet in the other direction, the impact would have been more severe due to the landscape.

Tyra was med-flighted to Boston and John (pilot) was taken by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital where he was later transferred to Boston as well.

Tyra remains in critical but stable condition. She has suffered many broken bones including her neck, ribs, leg, shoulder and severed part of her finger. Incredibly there appears to be no substantial damage to her internal organs or spinal cord. However, doctors remain optimistic  about her lungs despite the fact that most of her ribs are broken.

Tyra’s first love is her family. She is undeniably dedicated to ensuring their happiness and well-being. Anyone who knows her will tell you she is the “perfect mother & wife”. I would tell you that and all of her friends would too. We would also tell you she’s an amazing friend, one that we are all the better for just simply by knowing her. Tyra is always running in ten different directions. Between their children’s band practices, concerts and shows, the many school band trips she volunteers for, the fundraisers that benefit their school and band, college tours (for the 1st of three children) all while making sure she’s home for them preparing or picking up dinner on those crazy nights. I think her favorite nights are those that her husband is cooking on the grill, she always looks forward to that. (between you and me, it freed her up to kick back and relax if only for ten minutes).

With a horrific and terrifying accident such as this, it’s far too early to say she’s out of the woods but I continue to have faith she will have a full recovery. Tyra will undergo several surgeries over the next few weeks and will require a lot of care.

So I end with this….. Tyra Pacheco is an exceptional human being, one we can all strive to be like. So now in her greatest time of need please help her and her family by donating. Any amount at all will be greatly appreciated.
