Things are rocky with the college administration & I am trying to do what I can. This video is so timely, especially given what I'm going through with Kenyon. Not to put the college administration on blast, but this video explains why I REFUSE to take out a private loan or have my mother apply for a PLUS loan (at 67 y/o) just so the college can get their money before April 1st. I refuse to have my mother or myself be put into financial ruin over $3,380 college policy on deadlines or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNM7nvcVm-0
Omg, thank you for all the donations! I can barely keep up with writing the thank you letters! Video coming soon! I'll be asking for the extension, so wish me luck! You can follow my growing #Vine or #Twitter @Got2BJosh Love you!
Thank you! I am soo cracked out! I speak too loud in these videos. Sorry! :)
Krazy Kisses of Gratitude to all those who have donated, spread the word & expressed support! I'm a go get camera ready. :D
OMG! Let me go put on my makeup... b/c I'll be making my video today! Yay! Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who's been donating! I'll be making a video at the end of this week to commemorate 2 weeks of generosity! First round of thoughts & shout outs coming soon!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much to everyone who's donated thus far! Good news: we've actually raised $650 (including an in-person donation from Matt). Bad news: the deadline has been pushed up to the 15th (administration), so keep spreading the word & I'll be sending emails out... Much love & thanks! -J :D
Omg, thank you so much to my 'first responders'! I am truly touched & honored that you donated. It means so much to me! I'll keep you updated. -J :D
Hello friends and strangers!
My name is Josh and I'm a senior Psychology major at Kenyon College. I returned this semester to begin my senior year after taking an extended hiatus. It was great being away, but I'm glad to be back and people have been really warm and welcoming upon my return.
I didn't think I'd ever sign up for one of these sites, but now, I find myself in a bind, unable to cover the remaining balance on my college tuition for the spring 2013 semester. After maxing out my Kenyon Aid and Federal loans, I still have a remaining balance of $3,380 with the college. I have until 4/1, to get the money together for the college.
My mom is retired and already has two other loans from my sisters that she cosigned on, totaling $26,000. Being a retired, single parent, of a certain age, I completely understand why she doesn't feel comfortable risking her financial situation by incurring more debt and potentially jeopardizing her good credit score.
I'm at a complete impasse here. My mom can't afford to pay given her delicate financial situation, I don't have enough money of my own, nor would I make enough from my job before the semester ends. The school needs the money by 3/15 otherwise I'll have to leave school... again! This is my final year of college, I have one more semester after this, and I just want to get my diploma so I can go out into the world and do the great things I have planned.
The site charges a small percentage fee (like most do), but I thought I'd give it a shot, because time is running out and I need your help. Please donate whatever you can and spread the word to those you know. Thanks! -Josh :)
P.S.- Last fall, I donated to a guy in Australia who needed help paying for his pet's surgery, as a result of a chronic illness. Luckily, he was successful in raising the funds & I personally found the experience to be rewarding for me as well. :)
