Tiger Tales Literary Magazine

A few of the winners of the 2016 Tiger Tales literary competition.

Allegan High School, a rural high school in southwestern Michigan, has been running an annual literary contest for 17 years.  We need funds to help pay for prizes ($1050), cover the cost of printing of the anthology ($700) of winning pieces and help fund the spring contest reception which is attended by each of the hundreds of students who have entered a piece of writing ($300), whether they are finalists or not!

This, for many of the students, is their only opportunity to see their writing published and quite a few of the past winners have gone on to win a number of other writing prizes, including college scholarship essay contests.

We would love to continue this competition, but funding cuts have made it impossible to fund on our own.  We believe it is a vital motivational tool to keep our students writing.  Students look forward to it every year and put a lot of effort into polishing their writing so they have a chance of seeing it printed in the annual anthology, one that will be read by high school classes for years and sold in local stores.  They will be "famous!"

This would mean so much to the students of Allegan High School and hundreds of student writers would be thankful.  Go Tigers!!!
