On the night of Friday December 7th, 2012 our beloved friend Marc Gratton suffered a massive stroke. He was quickly transported from Royal Victoria Hospital here in Barrie to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto to undergo emergency neurosurgery to remove a blood clot from the right side of his brain. He remained in ICU heavily sedated for the swelling to reduce for days. At first there was no change and CAT scan results did not show improvement. He then developed pneumonia. It was at this stage a group of us decided to create this Go Fund Me page.

Marc has a very long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. Sandy has not left his side. She was initially driving from Barrie to Toronto every day to be with him. He has since been transferred back to Royal Victoria Hospital here in Barrie for recovery and rehabilitation. Expenses are still running high though and will continue to do so. Sandy and Marc are also the primary caregivers of Sandy's elderly mother who lives with them. This family have basically lost their income and need our help!!

Please, look into your hearts. Donate what you can to help them through this dark time. Any amount would be appreciated. Even a small contribution could make a huge difference to Marc and Sandy.

If a monetary donation is just not feasible for you but you would like to make a different sort of donation ie. cooked meals, snow removal, light cleaning, errands etc. please contact myself at violetaston@gmail.com

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts <3

Marc is so fortunate to have you and all these friends. His aunts are always thinking of him and wish we could be closer to help but rest assured you are in our thoughts and prayers. Rita, Emilie, Thrse , Marie and Betty.

I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone for your most generous support! This week has been the biggest challenge of our lives so far but we are encouraged by Marc's progress. Reality has sunk in slowly during the past 8 days and the realization that this is going to be a very long, slow healing process with no guarantee of the outcome. My "angels" who started this donation page didn't know that I'd spent the previous night lying awake, both worried about Marc and wondering how I was going to manage not only the daily visits to Toronto for the next few months, but his continued care when we reach the rehab stage, as well as caring for my mom. No matter how I did the math, I couldn't make there be enough hours in the day to fit in a job to replace Marc's income. The support and generosity of all of you has given me a reprieve from the worrying for a bit and on behalf of Marc and myself, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

What I find truly heartwarming is that some people are donating amounts equal to a hydro bill, or a month of internet/cable, or a month worth of gas........selfless acts of generosity........it is a big chunk of money to give up for a worthy cause.
