WERU radio continues to play the CD and to let me know where I am on the weekly list of 30 most-played albums.. Thus far I have been 7, 3, 15 and most recently 6. If you like the music please send them a message on FaceBook ( WERU Community Radio) and thank them for playing it, or request a song. They really are a community station and do respond beautifully when any listeners reach to them, thank them or DONATE to the station! Thanks and blessings! Mia

If you do not have a CD yet, please get one through me..or Zoot Coffee in Camden or Good Tern Coop or CDBaby! ( on-line). WERU played 'The Flower in Your heart last week and gave some kudos to all the local musicians on the song /CD. Thanks, Rich Hilsinger.
Good Tern Coop is selling some of my CDs and they are placed on their Valentine's display. next to the chocolate. Hearts. flowers, music, organic chocolate....Zoot Coffee in Camden has CDs for sale as well. CDBaby has them in stock and you can listen to samples of all the songs. Blessings and thanks to all those who pre-bought and all who continue to buy...I will use this forum to keep track and until the CD fabrication cost is paid off...then even if I do not exceed my goal I will still donate to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation.
Very excited...getting good feedback on the CD and more buyers and another deejay who plans to play it....
WRFR Radio in Rockland, Maine featured the CD and played SIX of TWELVE songs just now. Thanks to Jo Lindsay!! Thanks to my supporters who made the CD happen.
Yesterday I received a check from gofundme for 100.00. This was because I was one of the winners in their video submission contest. It has been deposited into the "Flower in Your Heart" account and will be used to help pay off the last expenses for the CD, the fabrication and the mailings. If you do not have the CD and you would like a copy or copies, please go through me or use gofundme....both are less expensive for the buyer than using CDBaby or iTunes. I am very grateful and excited about the whole project and am sending it out with a lot of joy!
I am getting great feedback on "The Flower in Your heart"!Many many CDs have been mailed out, to places all over the USA and to the West Indies. A friend is hand-delivering copies to the Netherlands and I will mail more and am driving all over my part of Maine delivering copies. If you have not received your copy yet please make certain I have your mailing address.
What remains to be paid for is the cost of fabricating the CDs....so I will continue to raise money to pay for that. CDBaby does sell the CDs but their cost is higher for the buyer and the artist ( that would be me) receives less.Gofundme of course charges a small price for each donation so of 50.00 I receive 47. and change, of 15 I receive 13 and change and so forth. This is a small price to pay for a means to make pre-buyi9ng easy for people! Those who pre-bought at the 50.00 level did not only get their names on the record, they graciously helped with some of the mailing costs.
I am very excited and grateful. Mia
I received an email from gofundme saying my video entry ( describing my successful campaign) was one of the winners. I will receive 100.00, which will go towards the CD!
The Flower in Your Heart is being fabricated. I am so happy and grateful for the almost 100 pre-buyers...and hope to attract some new ones and then, of course sell more CDs to the unsuspecting human beings out there. I have my mailers and all your addresses ready to go. It will be a joyous day preparing and sending out the CDs. I must publicly apologize for misspelling one friend's name on the CD cover. I left out a critical "e" in his lovely Irish last name. There may be other errors...I hope not. CD set to ship 1/24 at the latest. Thanks to my pal Butch for suggesting this and to Karen True of Portland for telling me abotu gofundme.com. Blessings! Thanks Annie Converse for your crucial help with the photos...thanks Jan for the style of layout and design and thanks Bruce for your amazing work recording, playing solos of various kinds then lovingly carefully mixing and mastering!
Dear Friends: The total amount raised shown on gofundme is 425.00 too much. I do not know how that happened except when I added in a total from a group of early pre-buys. Actual amount raised is 3,895.00 from a total of 93 people. Right now there is one more glitch with one of the CD photos. I await resolution of that then I approve proofs then the fabrication happens and in 10 business days I get the CDs and start mailing/delivering them. Let's hope this beautiful new moon energy is on our side! Thanks and blessings. Mia
Awaiting the cover proofs.....and then the CD....
Looks like the cover art is finally fixed and is a GO! Songs have been uploaded...I am on email with Discmakers to correct a potential couple of typos on their end...then we will start the countdown to delivery.
Masters sound GREAT!!!! Credit card (ulp) info given to Discmakers......still accepting pre-buys!
I awoke this morning to an email from Bruce saying the masters are done. He sent a file which is downloading now....once I approve the songs he encodes the Master and it is ready to go to Discmakers! Turn around time is about 10 days. Bless all of you who are continuing to send in pre-buys. Each 30.00 or 50.00 is a vast help, as I still have the fabrication costs ( 1, 224.00). I have funds to pay Bruce for his final work and have paid the cover artist and of course paid the musicians each session back in September and October during the recording. Thanks to all who are patiently waiting! Blessings, Mia
The cover art is all done and paid for ...we await the mixes and master then can send CD for fabrication. If you know any music lovers who want to pre-buy CDs we could certainly use help for the home stretch, which is several more hours of mixing at 75.00 an hour and a fabrication cost of 1200.o0 at Discmakers. Blessings! Gratitude!
TWO 50.00 pre-buys TODAY! Thank you.
Dear Friends: A kind soul told me yesterday that every update goes to all past donors. I must admit that in my low-tech brain this had not registered. if updates are in any way bothersome to you please email me at home and let me know, I will contact the Gods/Powers that be at Gofundme and see what I can do. I await the cover artwork and the master of the CD and then it gets sent to the company that is fabricating the CDs. Too soon to know if I will have them in hand by Christmas but...if we go by the 12 days of Christmas the holiday extends to January 6, correct? Best and many thanks, Mia
We had a great time at the new Vaudeville Revue Saturday night. Two of the three songs I sang were from the new CD.I am getting very excited as the release time gets closer. thanks to all the pre-buyers and supporters who are contributing their positive and loving energy to this!
I am so happy and grateful for the kind pre-buys. Thank you all so much. And bless Bruce and his ggggreat ( no typo!) mixing skills over there in Hawaii!
The mixes are coming in fast and furious. I was able to send a harmony part by Mp3 and Bruce dragged it and dropped it into a tune. Technology never ceases to amaze me. Thanks. people for the recent donations---pre-buys in person and in the mail!
The new mixes keep on comin'...Bruce is working hard from his new home in Hawaii...and put a lovely guitar solo on one of the songs that we had forgotten about in terms of adding a solo. I have been handing out my little cards with the thank you from all of us and the photos of the musicians in the studio, and sending lots of song samples to all the lovely pre-buyers.
First mix from Hawaii...as it happens it is of the first song on the CD..."Cosmic Repair." Really pleased with it and very excited.
Bruce Boege called me from Hawaii. He is settling in, will move into a new place in a couple of weeks then begin mixing and mastering.Right now I am hoping to get the CD fabricated and returned to me before Christmas but not quite sure..The recording is all paid for and I have a balance to use towards the mixing and mastering and the final push will be to fabricate the CDs....which DiscMakers will do about 1220.00 for 1,000....500 is only 160.00 less. Those why pre-buy but do not have the last CD have a choice to get one of each...which means one available now, the next one later! Blessings and many thanks, Mia
Thank you for your pre-buys. At this point I have spent 3,195.00 on musicians and studio time. I have spent 176.00 on promotional thank you cards featuring pictures of the players and the picture I hope will go on the album cover. What remains is a lot of time for Bruce to mix and master the record....Phil estimated perhaps ?? 20 hours of time. Then the fabrication of the CD will be 1, 274.00 if I get 1000 units, 160.00 less for 500. Then I will need to mail CDs to all the pre-buyers and finally, pay the album artist.
I am so happy and grateful for the incredible donations ( pre-buys) coming in. Very thankful.
My sister sent for me and I spent some time with her in Virginia and DC. I am happy to say 7 or 8 more people now own my first CD, "Restoration" and are interested in the upcoming collection. The thank you/promotional cards I made have arrived and they came out nicely. My plan is to tuck a card or two in every CD packet so people can have pics of all the musicians who played on the CD and a thank you for supporting local music!
All 12 songs are recorded, with the last bass track put on by Phil on Friday. Bruce will move to Hawaii, carefull keeping the CD in rough form in a few places...then he will get there...rest...unpack and begin working on mixing and mastering it. Mixing is a time consuming business and from what I understand , can only be done in about 2 hour increments. The engineer is listening with headphones to every layer and apsect of each song. He is removing what does not work, cutting, pasting and interweaving solos, tightening the sound and making it uniform within each song...and the mastering makes it uniform across all songs. All the musicians have been paid...excpet more cash will go to "Guitar" who always plays a LOT on these records. And other monies collected with pay for the studio work of mixing and mastering and the album art and the fabrication of the CD which is close ot 1,000.00 at the compaby ( Discmakers) I use.Blessings and thanks, and pass it on, please! The last song is a (traditional ) lullabye dedicated to my brother, Adam, nephew Owen and Rob Roy. Mia
Going to the studio this evening to meet Gregg Tehennepe, the dobro player, and hear him do his magic, and to add one final lower harmony on "Cosmic Repair"
I cannot get the gofundme page to accurately reflect donations because they automatically add the on-line ones to the off-line amount I put in. Total pledged 2,200.00. Total goal raised to 4,000.00 because Mia underestimated costs of recording and fabricating the CD! Blessings and thanks.
Sunday we spent 6 hours in Limin' Music Studio in the expert hands of Bruce Boege. I went in first to fix a few vocals and add some lower harmonies. Then Jess Smith came to add her incredible vocal magic to a few more songs. Phil Clement arrived awhile later to put down more acoustic and electric guitar and do some percussion. Tom Luther came to add keyboard solos, ideas and percussion. Bruce had put down some amazing saxophone solos and did some more Sunday. There was much laughter amid all the hard work. I am amazed seeing these musicians walk in, hear something once and play a beautiful solo. Then a different one---and maybe a third one. We then try and pick the one we like best. Thanks to all my friends---and even some "strangers" who have contributed to this project! Be ready for a lively and fun CD...which includes two mystery men who shall remain unnamed by their request!
We had a wonderful morning in the studio yesterday with Bruce, Phil, Larry, Janet, Austin and Jess. I am told I need to repost this and update it frequently so those who wish to pre-buy the CD can do so....and I thank the many people who have already mailed in pledges of 100.00, 50.00 or 30.00. These add up and I have been able to keep a steady flow of money to the studio owner and musicians though I have not collected the money needed to fabricate the CD ( Discmakers). Thanks and blessings for your pre-buys and helping make this happen!
How do you make an album when your farm is having a crop failure?
This is my latest project and I hope you will be interested. I've just finished (Bruce Boege's Limin' Music Studio in Northport, Maine) recording my second album. The album title is "The
Flower in Your Heart" and all the songs are originals.
Joining me in the studio were Maine musicians Phil Clement, Bruce Boege, Tom Luther, Jess and Austin Smith, Jeffrey Densmore, Janet Taylor, Larry Wade, Gregg TeHennepe.
the crop failure on our farm and tough economic times the opportunity to record
with Bruce before he moves to Hawaii. To my delight, we got all the songs done with Bruce, an multi-talented musician and engineer with a state-of-the-art studio and a long history of making music with and for everyone around.
In an attempt to defray
some of the costs of recording a new album, I am offering a pre-order
opportunity only to my Facebook and personal friends and interested on-line folks.
Here's how it works.
Pledge $30 and you get 2 autographed CDs .
Pledge $50 and you get 2 autographed CDs and your name in the credits on the CD cover
I can raise $5,000.00, that should cover most of the costs.
At this moment the musicians have been paid except some ongoing money which will go to my guitar player month by month...and I need to play for the upcoming studio time for the mixing and mastering and the 900.00 to fabricate the CD at DiscMakers.Any money I may
raise over that amount will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a
charitable donation. In fact even if I fall short I will still donate to the CF Foundation.
If you're not interested I understand! Times are tough!
If you are interested just respond to this message!
To hear some of my previous record 'Restoration" go to CDBaby or the FaceBook page "restoration Album and click on "music store" to hear free samples. OR JANGO Radio has a lot of my songs under "Mia Mantello Restoration" including some rough demos of somgs from the new CD.
Thanks for your support over the years. Love & gratitude, Mia
