Help #SaveTequila

In January of 2015 we rushed our dog Tequila to the vet after he was having a hard time breathing and wheezing a lot. We found out then that he had an enlarged heart.

Fast forward a few months and five appointments later (including one that put him in an oxygen chamber) and the vet informs us that he actually has heart disease and it is progressing.

On 7/27/15 we had to rush Tequila to the vet again because he could not breathe. This time we were told the truth about his heart disease.

He may only have months to live, but if treated properly he could have a year or two.

This news broke my heart.

He was placed on oxygen again and 2 new heart medications in addition to the 2 he was already on.

The financial burden has been very hard. We have been forced to spend a lot of money and place most of his vet bills on our credit cards. We know that he is not even close to being done with his bills. He will have to be seen at least every 3 months and that is if he doesn't have an episode before then.  Plus, there is his medication.

Tequila is more than just a "pet" to us. He is a family member. He is our Son. I can not even begin to describe how hard this has been and continues to be for the three of us.  We have had many sleepless nights and there will be more.

ABOUT TEQUILA:

-He is 7 years old
-He was adopted by his Mom and Dad when he was 3 months old
-He is a Chihuahua
-He received his name because his Mom lost a bet with his Dad
-He loves cats, but not other dogs
-He LOVES Treats
-He loves car rides and used to love walks (He can not take them anymore due to his heart problems)
-His favorite times are dinner, bedtime and when Mom and Dad come home
-He is spoiled
-He is a very smart dog that knows how to manipulate his Dad into giving him extra treats
-He always *has* to have a blanket to hide under
