Rebuild Tara & Mick's Family Home!

Donation protected
On Wednesday, November 19th our good friends Tara and Mick and their two young boys Flynn (2 and a half) and Harlan (3 months) lost their family home to a fire, any family’s worst nightmare!

Tara was attending to her boys this afternoon when she heard a noise like somebody was on their roof.  She wouldn't normally go outside and check as she was usually too scared, but luckily on this day she did.  She’d instructed Flynn to stay inside whilst she went to check on the noise outside.  She went into the backyard where she found the pergola alight, after a few attempts at dousing the flames with water she realised she wasn’t going to be able to put it out.  By this stage the fire had spread from the pergola through to the inside of the house roof.  She turned to find a man coming up the driveway to her aid, he grabbed Flynn and took him to the front yard.  Tara went back inside for Harlan and ran straight out the front door to call the Fire brigade.  It was then she remembered that their family dog was still in the laundry.  Tara gave Harlan to her neighbour &, in a sudden rush of panic, ran back to the house to save her dog, Luna.  She was stopped by the Fireman who wouldn’t allow her near the house; Tara was hysterical, screaming at them to save her dog.  Luckily they were able to locate Luna from behind the laundry door, unharmed but smelling of smoke.

Tara, Mick and the boys are now staying with family until investigation reports have been finalised and their insurance company can arrange a rental property while they rebuild their home.  While the house was covered by insurance they’ve lost all of their possessions, many of which cannot be replaced. They’d also spent a lot of time & money on the home itself undergoing many renovations over the past few years, all of which went up in smoke. The kids Christmas presents, including a cubby house they were going to assemble for Flynn, were lost in the fire as well. Some of the clothes & furniture they were able to save have been waterlogged and smoked out.  Tara is putting on a brave face but inside she's hurting especially having to explain to a crying Flynn why they can’t go home. We can’t begin to imagine what they are going through but we can raise money to help ease the burden slightly.  Ideally we would like to see them start fresh with new furnishings so we are raising money to help them replace as much of their contents as possible.

Any contribution you are able to make would be greatly appreciated! xxx

P.S Tara & Mick aren’t aware of this fundraising page and we’d like to keep it that way for now so please don’t post the link to Facebook (without excluding them from the post) or mention anything to either of them.
