Hi. My name is Tami Martin-Dietrich and I have been blessed and was fortunate enough to be selected as the representive for the beautiful state of Georgia in the National Ms. Wheelchair USA Competition in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on July 18th 2015. 

My goal is to help the disabled community -- especially young girls -- learn that they no longer have to fear enjoying the world, and reaching for their goals and embarking on their wildest dreams, whatever their hearts desire...to never take no for an answer, and to live the life of their dreams.

If I can lose 207 pounds, find my true love across the world in Australia, learn how to walk again and walk for the first time at my Disney Fairy Tale Wedding, then you too can achieve any dream you desire as long as you persevere and believe in yourself. Of course, I couldn't have done any of this had God not been at the center of my life. My story is also my testimony and a testament to our Lord.

My story started in 1999, when I broke my back in a serious car accident. My mother was driving me back to the University of Florida, where I was majoring in Sports Broadcasting, when an ambulance stalled in front of us. We were only going 19-23 miles per hour, but I had my seat back reclined. Upon impact, I submarined under the seat and when the airbag went off, it clotheslined me at the waist. My spinal cord was crushed and I was left with paraparesis. I have feeling down to my toes, it is just decreased and I have movement down to my toes (finally)! Through physical therapy I am now regaining my glutes, my quads and my hamstrings. 

Funds raised will cover the pageant entry fee, my gown, the all-important interview suit, lodging, transportation and all other expenses of attending the pageant. Any extra funds will be put towards attending speaking engagements or other disability related events throughout the state during my reign as Ms Wheelchair Georgia USA, and hopefully Ms. Wheelchair USA!
