Help Save Merkin the Tripod Kitty

Donation protected
My kid is sick, and he needs your help. He has been vomiting and losing weight for the last year and a half, and if we don't get to the bottom of it, we will have to put him to sleep. :-( It could be something very treatable, or something more serious like liver disease or cancer. We do not know what is wrong because I cannot afford more than the basic blood panel, which was inconclusive. It showed severely elevated liver values, which we have lowered somewhat with a supplement, but he's still just as sick. The vet estimate for scans and tests to comprehensively diagnose the problem is $600** (hopefully less, if they find something early on.) Beyond that, there is the undetermined cost of treatment once we find the problem. If this is a terminal disease, I will use the money to buy him some time, keep him comfortable, and give him good end-of-life care.

Merkin is sick, but he still has a spark of life in him and a will to live. The vet says he still has a chance if we act soon.

Merkin and I have been together for 13 years, since he was 6 weeks old, and he's my best friend. He is my doctor authorized companion animal. We both became disabled around the same time, in 2004. I nursed him through the amputation of his back right leg after he was hit by a car, and he has been constantly by my side while I battle debilitating chronic illness. I am homebound and mostly bedbound, and he has saved me from loneliness and despair. In my darkest days, he kept me wanting to live, and I am deeply indebted to him. We are inseparable; he is always on my lap or next to me, every day. He has taught me so much about perseverance and unconditional love and disability. He doesn't know he's disabled. He just hops his way through life as if it's no big deal to be missing a leg. He looks at me like "Mom, I got this. What? You thought I couldn't do it?" He is such a survivor and so confident.

I am devastated by not being able to afford to help him. He deserves so much better, which is why I'm appealing to you to help us.

He has done so much for me, and I need to find a way to help him continue to thrive. I am donating my artwork in hopes to raise the funds we need. I will post examples asap. This art is quite a monumental task for someone as sick as I am, but I am committed to following through. So please estimate several months before recieving your artwork, then add a month or two. Hopefully that way I can surprise you by exceeding your expectations.

Thank you for your support!
