Help Sarge

Sarge is an 18 month old rotti x mastiff desexed male. He is a handsome, easy going boy who loves people and children. He was taken to the pound with two broken canine teeth and another chipped tooth and subsequently offered to Friends of the Pound to rescue. The vet assessed him and informed us that extraction was not an option for canine teeth as the roots are embedded in the jawbone and could cause a fracture if removal is attempted, so suggested Sarge see a dental specialist. After a phone conversation with the dentist an estimate of around $2,000 was quoted for root canal surgery to solve the problem and he has the first appointment on January 15.
Friends of the Pound Tweed Inc. is an Australian not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to re-home homeless dogs and cats in the Tweed Shire area and to improve conditions at the Tweed Shire Council Pound.
Our volunteers provide much-needed assistance at the Pound - caring for the animals with feeding, grooming, exercising and giving comfort to those that are traumatised by the experience.
We work with the pound keepers to rescue animals in need of veterinary work, those who do not for some reason cope well in the pound and the few who aren't sold from the pound. This co-operative relationship means that any animal that passes a vet check at the Tweed Pound will be re-homed either from the pound or by Friends of the Pound.
We also promote the importance of responsible pet ownership and slowly, but surely, hope to lessen the increasing number of homeless animals, particularly through encouraging the desexing of animals to reduce the appalling number of unwanted pets.
We are dependent on donations and the fund-raising efforts of our volunteers to augment money raised from animal sales.
Often we are called upon to rescue dogs and cats whose medical bills are too much to bear by the owners and unfortunately these animals, through no fault of their own, are facing a death penalty.
This is where we step in to give them a second chance and provide foster care, urgent medical and dental assistance, plus desexing, microchipping and worming, as well as food and bedding.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated by our organisation as well as the animals themselves, who owe their existence to a generous and caring public.
