Living the Tale of Two Cities

Aloha everyone,

I am so excited to have been accepted into the People to People Student Ambassador Program.  They are taking a delegation of 5^th and 6^th graders from Hawaii to Europe on a journey called,  “Tale of Two Cities”  in summer 2013!  I’m so happy that I have been chosen to join this educational journey.   

People to People was established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. This program’s purpose is to give young citizens like me an opportunity to meet and learn other cultures.  President Eisenhower once said; “I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments.” 

We have been invited by the British Parliament to learn about England’s governing system. We will meet with members of Parliament for a real life view of governing. On another excursion we will go to Buckingham Palace to actually meet the Queen of England!  Then on to our France excursion, to walk the beach where the Battle of Normandy took place, to the Eiffel Tower, Mona Lisa at the Louvre and several other cultural and educational sites.  All in all 7 cities in 14 days.... and lots of fun in-between!!

This is just a brief glimpse of the cultural experiences I will have! Becoming a student Ambassador is a life-changing experience that will enlighten my view of the world! 

As a Student Ambassador, I’ll have the unique opportunity to reach out to the world in the spirit of President Eisenhower’s vision. Along the way I will learn about new cultures, travel to new places and make new friends. 

My family can’t afford to pay the full tuition so my parents have given me the responsibility of raising half of the trip expense through various fundraising efforts.  Can you help me please??

I will make you a pledge based on your contribution…Would you like to have a real French beret from Paris?  How bout a mini-Eiffel Tower, or Big Ben snow globe??  Or you can put me to work in our community...  I am certified to referee U-8 soccer games... I can wash your car, dog or kids!

Please donate whatever you can spare so that maybe I can travel, learn and help promote peace in the world!
