Memorial for a teacher Mr Sandy Kronick

We are fund raising to purchase a bench in memory of a teacher, Mr. Sandy Kronick.

Mr. Kronick was a fun loving, dedicated, beloved, teacher at Hidden Valley Satellite School in Santa Rosa, CA for many years.

Mr. Kronick retired in May 2012 and, tragically, he died unexpectedly just one week later.

Mr. Kronick taught at Doyle Park Elementary before moving to the Hidden Valley Satellite School (HVSS) where he taught Kindergarten to 3rd grade for his final 10 years of teaching. He dedicated over 30 years of his professional career to teaching students in the Santa Rosa School District.

Mr. Kronick believed in living life to the fullest, and he is missed by many.

His death impacted his family, co-workers, our school community, and the many students he taught over the years.

In an effort to honor Mr. Kronick, and his dedication to our school and the many students whose life he impacted, the Hidden Valley Satellite Parents Association (SPA) is fundraising to buy a bench in his honor.

The bench will overlook the playground and serve as a place where children and adults alike can take a respite from their day and pay homage to a wonderful person and teacher.

The SPA hopes to complement the one memorial bench with the purchase of two child sized benches to replace the aging and worn small wooden benches that are currently in place -- offering the smaller children a pint sized, safe place to gather, think, chat, and conspire -- as children do during their day.

Knowing the need to purchase safe, high quality benches that will stand the test of time (and kids!) we have turned to a local company that specializes in park and playground equipment and we will purchase the benches from them.

The cost of the benches is $3600 (including the fees to Go Fund Me.com and FirstGiving (which handles the tax deduction reporting for non-profit fundraisers).

We hope to dedicate the memorial bench at Open House night in May. There is a 6 to 8 week lag time between ordering and delivery. We will order the memorial bench as soon as we can -- hopefully it  can be here in time for Open House. We will order the two smaller benches when we reach the final amount. Should we surpass our goals, we will use the money to purchase planters for the blacktop area.

We are turning to you the general public, teachers, supporters of teachers, alumni of Hidden Valley Main and Hidden Valley Satellite School, friends of the community, friends and co-workers of Mr. Kronick and kind hearted strangers to help us reach our goal of placing a suitable memorial for an unforgettable man.
