Sadie Hyden Fire Fund

The above photo is of a very special friend of mine, Marquetta Grubb, and her Grandma Mrs. Sadie Hyden. Yesterday was Mrs. Hyden's 78th birthday. A time to celebrate turned to a time of sadness this morning, January 17th 2014. There was a fire at her house in Jackson County Kentucky. It is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue near the furnace. The fire destroyed everything. 100% loss. Mrs. Hyden has medical conditions, all of her supplies and medications were lost in the fire as well.

This family has had more than it's share of tragedy the past few months. Mr. Hyden passed away suddenly on November 3rd 2013. He was 79 years old. The family did not want Mrs Hyden living by herself so Marquetta's cousin had been staying with her as well as her cousin's husband. It was the cousin that woke up to the smoke alarms, and thankfully was able to get her husband, Mrs. Hyden, and her two dogs out of the house. They later found one of the two cats, which is now in an animal hospital... the other cat has not been found.

I, living in Ohio, have never met Marquetta's grandmother. But I do know Marquetta! She is one of the most caring, loving, giving people I have ever met. She is truly an angel on earth. Anyone who knows her will vouch for that. She has organized countless benefits for people in need. She has always been there to listen and to help anyone and everyone she can. Now it is her and her family that need our help. Let's not let her down! I told her I would try to help and asked what an ideal goal would be, what amount would she be totally thrilled with... she said "I would be thrilled with $500!" That is why I love this lady. She would never ask for much. I don't know that she would have asked for anything had I not told her I wanted to try to raise money for her. That is just how she is... wonderful.

So please... if you could donate anything at all to this family to try and help Mrs Hyden to at least be comfortable, it would mean so much. It doesn't matter the amount, every little bit will help. And please, whether you can donate or not, share this with all of your friends.

Thanks again,
Scott Merrill
