Rikka's Fundathon - Educational Fair

Dear Friends and Family:

For the next four months I will be working my butt off trying to raise money for this project! I'd like to make use of my birthday to jumpstart my "4-month Fundathon" to contribute to this cause that not only means a a lot to me but a project that I will be diligently a part of.

All proceeds will go to the Maywood Educational Fair. This annual Fair will be implemented for the fourth time during the month of October 2012 by California State University, Fullerton's Master's in Higher Education graduate students (the program I'm currently in). The Fair will consist of various activities reaching out to students from elementary school to high school level as well as their parents and families. 

The overall purpose of this educational fair is to create a college-going-culture within this underserved community along with the surrounding cities. By undeserved community, this means cities like Maywood are often plagued with negative attention focusing on low graduation rates, illegal resident status, and high crime rates. This does not define the city, but for the purpose of this Fair, this is the reason my cohort, my faculty, and myself, will be investing our time and energy towards this community.
