Right Rongly Debut CD, "w e"

Donation protected

Hello, and thanks so much for checking out the band Right Rongly's GoFundMe page!

If you don't already know me, I'm a Chicago-area singer/songwriter/guitarist named Scottish McMillan, and the band Right Rongly has been the passion of both myself and drummer Ryan Aiello since we began collaborating in 2008. We have stuck together through numerous setbacks, personal and otherwise, in the name of making the music we love and playing it for all who might care to hear it.  After 2 long years in the works, we're really looking forward to finally getting Right Rongly's debut album, "w e", available to our adoring fans!

BACKGROUND:
I've been looking forward to making this album for pretty much my whole life, and I have never been happier with an album of my own than I am with this one.  I feel that this album is a great start to a long career with Right Rongly, and it sets the bar high for our future recordings.

As you can probably guess, "DIY" record production is neither easy nor cheap. Rather than shelling out thousands of dollars to a big studio for a one-time recording, I chose instead to spend those thousands on my own recording and sound equipment, so I could record this and future albums without paying for each one individually.  I recorded, mixed and mastered the whole album myself, and due to a fairly stiff learning curve, it took longer than anyone wanted.

Now that I've drained my bank account for the recording and manufacturing of thousands of preliminary demo CD copies (distributed mostly for free), I need to come up with the remainder of the project's funds to make the album's proper release a reality. I chose www.GoFundMe.com because they pay out as each contribution is made, and I really need the help now, to get production rolling, versus waiting until the project goal is met before receiving a dime, which is how some other project funding sites work.

GREEN IS GOLD:
As anyone who sees the kind of stuff I post on Facebook knows, I'm all about doing the right thing for our environment.  That's why "w e" will be printed on tree-free paper (made either of hemp or alternate "green" materials).  NO trees will die in the making of this album, I swear.  Additionally, album packages will NOT contain a CD, unless the buyer pays $5.00 extra (this is to discourage the unnecessary production of environmentally-unfriendly CDs). Regardless, ALL copies of the album will include a code which can be used to easily download the entire album in both full-CD-quality and MP3 quality online.

THE OFFER:
For any pre-release donation of $10 or more, we offer the complete CD package (after it's done and ready to ship) with all artwork and lyrics sheets, personally signed by myself and Ryan, WITH the actual CD included.  If you DON'T want the CD to be included, simply tell us when you donate, and we will leave it out.  Mother Nature will thank you for your kindness...

ABOUT "w e" CONTRIBUTORS...

ARTWORK:
I have a good sense of visual art, but chose to leave the majority of the graphics layout and design process up to an old friend named John Markese, ("mar-KAY-zee"), an experienced, talented graphic artist and also a fine musician in his own right (he plays bass guitar in a funk-fusion-instrumental band called http://www.myspace.com/dopplershift">Doppler Shift).  John did the artwork and layout for my 2002 solo debut CD, called "Vice Verses", for practically nothing, and I've always felt like I owed him one, since it came out looking so great.  His initial generosity was a big factor in having him back on the job, though his layout and design skills sealed the deal.  You can see some snippets of his talent at both www.johnmarkese.com and www.markeseonline.com.  These works are not representative of what will be done for Right Rongly, but they do show John's skills.

PRINTING:
For the printing of the cover art, we have the wonderful Rick Smolke of Quik Impressions Group (www.quikimpressionsgroup.com) in Lombard, IL. Rick is one of the most generous, hard-working guys I've ever met, and has generously supported Right Rongly in the past.  This is why he deserves our business. Please help us pay him for his work - he's worth far more than he's asking, and your support here will be instrumental in compensating Rick for his time and effort.

YOURS TRULY:
I must mention here that a VERY modest portion (the smallest portion) of this $4,000.00 goal is destined for my own bank account, to help compensate me for the many, MANY long hours over the course of two years that I spent recording and mixing "w e", plus the $15,000.00 spent building an environment in which I can create more great music going forward, both with Right Rongly and as a solo artist.

I speak for both myself and Ryan when I say this - thank you very, very much for any help you can offer - it means everything to us.

See you at the next Right Rongly show!
