Help Lost and found Tittle's

Donation protected
As most of my Facebook friends know due to my recent posts....I recently found my mother's family. My mother and uncle were born to a huge family in Lookout Mountain, Hamilton County, TN, but was placed in foster care 55 years ago due to unfortunate circumstances. They were sent to live with a foster family in Cookeville, TN when my mom was 5 years old and uncle was an infant. My mother recalls her family in Lookout Mountain and also recalls the depression she experienced when she was taken away. My mom and uncle were fortunate to be sent together to the same family where they remained until they aged out of foster care. When my mom was 19-20 years old she attempted to search for her family by inquiring through the Department of Children Services. She was given little information and met with opposition from DCS. (We later found out that the Tittle's were also searching and met with great opposition). For many years after her initial attempt, my mom made attempts to search for the Tittle family independently as searching through agencies was not an option due to expenses.  We have contacted a few Tittle's by phone after scouring the white pages in the past, but it proved to be unsuccessful, which is emotionally draining at times. Even as I got older, growing into a young adult I began to try as my mother gave up.  My first attempt online was made in 2005..You can actually google my name and find my inquiry under a Hamilton County record search..but that also was unsuccessful.

Fast forward to the night of June 8th, early morning of June 9th 2015, as I was in a "google" mood to try finding my grandmother one more time. As I googled on my phone, I found a free 1940 census from ancestry.com that provided names of a Tittle family that included familiar names my mom mentioned before. I texted my mom the info,  then went to bed as it was passed 1 am. The next day I continued to google, researching names on the ancestry's census, that led to me researching on Chattanooga's library online database ..fast forward to finding a recent obituary with survivor names, which led me to finding possible relatives listed on a white pages inquiry...then finding the possible relatives from the obit and white pages, to finding Facebook pages with pictures..and the end result was getting a confirmation that I indeed had searched and found!!! My first contact was with my cousin Brandon Davis on facebook, who confirmed he had an Aunt Mable in our correspondence.  He also said that the family always knew Aunt Mable had children, but did not know what happened to them.  He said that he was going to get me in touch with someone who would know a bit more than him. At that moment my whole body started shaking, sweating and I felt nauseated. Then a few moments, later I got a message from Brandon's dad confirming that he remembered my mom as a little girl. Immediately, I felt that God was shining a spotlight on me. I then called my mom to confirm that I found her family, our family! My mom cried and so did I.

The entire time we were looking in the wrong place! The majority of my family migrated to Southern California and Detroit from Tennessee in the 60's-70's! My mom also had my grandmother's name and great grandmother's name mixed together which added to some confusion.

I am raising money at this time because 55 years is long enough to be separated from our family! The discovery came about so unexpected! We are thrilled and so are the Tittle's!! My mom, uncle and I are planning to fly to Southern California in October 2015 and travel expenses are not cheap from here to there. My uncle has not flown in 35 years and my mom has not flown in a while either! So this will be a double experiences for both. We plan to stay about 7 days to meet my great Aunt, two great uncles, as well as a SLEW of cousins! I do mean a slew! Who knew??! We cannot wait!

Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away last year  and my brother passed away in 1997, but I know they will be there in spirit and partying in heaven over the reunion!

Whatever you are able to give is so much appreciated! If you read this and are not able to help, prayers would be appreciated as well. To be able to fill the void that has been in my mother's and uncle's life is overwhelming!

Thanks so much for joining us on our journey to visit and reunite/meet the Tittle family! It's been a long time coming and I am mightily blessed by God to finally have found them.
