Qiama's Study Abroad: Morocco

Hi Everyone,
My name is Qiama Williams, I am a sophomore that attends Lindblom Math and Science Academy in Chicago, Illinois. This summer I am intending to study abroad in Rabat, Morocco for the first time. I am taking the trip with the CIEE International High School Summer Abroad program . The specific program I chose to study is language and culture in Rabat. The program is 1 month long and I applied for Session I June 11th- July 11th. I wish to study abroad in Morocco to advance and improve my Arabic language skills and expose myself to a different cultural background. My High School Lindblom Math and Science Academy has the first public school credit receiving Arabic language program in Chicago and one of the largest Arabic Language credit receiving programs in the United States. This highly motivates me to deepen my studies in Arabic language and culture as I have grown to love it. I plan to continually study Arabic in college until I reach fluency. I then plan to use my Arabic language skills in the work place and everyday life.
The Language and Culture program includes "60 hours of instruction in colloquial Arabic at any of three levels from a CIEE professor experienced in teaching the language to native-English speaker. A certificate that shows your language proficiency, guidance as you develop a personal portfolio and new-media presentation. You get to experience conversing with local students and your host family. Activities and outings include field trips to traditional markets and a rural farm, see treasures of Morocco’s ancient heritage at the National Archaeology Museum Tours of the Moroccan Parliament building, Surfing lessons, Hiking trails at a nearby lake, Learning Arabic calligraphy and visits to Tangier, Asilah, and Chefchaouen. " This program has really great reviews and I'm looking forward to attend. Many people have said this program and experience have really exposed them to become open to experiencing new cultures and it has made them more proficient in the Arabic Language.
I've thankfully been admitted to the program. I've paid my acceptance deposit and filed for my passport and completed the paper work and the many of the tasks to get started for the trip. The only thing left to pay is the tuition which is $5,400 not including airfare and spending money! I applied for a scholarship but unfortunately I did not recieve it. I really hope the tuition of this program will not stop me from fulfilling my wish to study abroad. I plan on fundraising to raise funds towards my tuition and airfare but many donations would help greatly! I hope to be studying abroad this summer.
