Quietly launched in December, 2011; Project Purple Ribbon is an authentic initiative, advocating for women and children. My passion for this cause comes after, twice, experiencing Intimate Partner Violence. I am seizing the opportunity to share my experiences while restoring hope to other women.
Domestic Violence is a "touchy" subject that has reached epidemic proportions in the United States. No one wants to be a victim. Project Purple Ribbon is one woman's vindication. I am asking for your help to raise awareness and develop resources for victims and survivors. The majority of victims suffer in silence. Statistics show that anywhere from 25 to 80% of Domestic and Intimate Partner Abuse goes unreported. In truth, it is difficult to say for sure because some women and most men who experience abuse never admit it. Others don't even believe they're in an abusive relationship.
With Project Purple Ribbon, I aim to, not only tell my own story, but tell the whole story of Domestic and Intimate Partner Abuse. The aim is to raise funds and awareness, and develop resources for women and children. We have partnered with House of Compassion, a safe place for women and families in eastern Michigan, so that we may begin to provide emergency shelter for women in that region.
