Urban HS Cheer Team Uniforms & Camp

I am in my second year teaching at a low-income high school in West Dallas and have ended up coaching the cheerleaders despite absolutely zero experience. In Fall 2013, there were only five girls, largely because most students at the school could not afford to particpate. We have since recruited and fundraised and now have a team of 20 girls, but we don't have uniforms for half of them. They have also never been to a Cheer Camp which would help their skills and team building tremendously.


$6 buys a glitter performance bow
$15 buys a set of pom poms
$20 buys one set of practice clothes for camp
$85 buys a uniform
$150 sends one girl to cheer camp


We are $3,450 short of our goal. This team has gotten the girls involved in an after-school activity (some for the first time) that positively impacts the entire morale of the school community. They have improved not only the school spirit but also their attitudes, goal-setting, leadership skills, school attendance, and investment in their grades and academic careers since becoming a team. With these uniforms and time at summer camp, they will be able to perform as a whole team and be the Pride of the West Side.
