BILLY D'S SPIRIT LIVES ON IN SO MANY OF US !!
How could one man be so much to so many !!
The challenges my brother faced each and every day were so much more than any of us could imagine. It can't be said enough, he never complained, he just did what he had to do, and just kept going. November 5th marked the one year anniversary since Billy left us and it's taken the entire month to read all the positive accolades, memories, and tributes on Facebook. Thank you ALL for sharing your hearts.
To honor Billy D, his wife Sherry, and their legacy of giving back, Neale Orinick and I are racing the Boulder 70.3 on June 11, 2016 in Colorado. A Half IRONMAN Triathlon is a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run. Neale and I are undertaking this personal test of endurance to recognize Billy's relentless will to live life to the fullest despite the physical challenges he faced every day.
I'm undertaking this difficult challenge in the spirit of how Billy D tackled his difficulties every day, and he just kept going. As a novice triathlete, I have many hard training days and obstacles to overcome (like learning to swim!)
I plan on training hard to accomplish this goal in honor of my brother and his entire team.
Neale on the other hand has finished 3 full Ironman's since 2013, with her by my side, like Billy had Sherry, friends, and colleagues on his team, together I like our chances. It will require a team effort!
Our goal is to raise $7,030 - A hundred dollars for every mile we race to benefit Billy's favorite charity "The Michael Ross Foundation" (MichaelRossFoundation.com)
